Setting Goals - The Easiest Way To Set Goals

"Where on earth do I start?" Sound familiar? So many times individuals repeat those words to themselves when they feel overwhelmed. The desire is there to accomplish a task, but they are unsure of where the beginning really is. Goals have been set, but it seems a tremendous chore to even start working toward your dream.

Jennifer was sick of clutter. It seemed no matter how hard she tried she couldn't keep her house organized. One day she'd "had it." She stomped through her house scrubbing and cleaning, throwing out garbage and then doing more scrubbing. Determined she wouldn't get frustrated over clutter again she set a personal goal. Each month she wrote out a plan to reorganize her house starting at the pantry, continuing to her children's rooms, and even reaching the basement. She had everything written out with the smallest details jotted down. Recording everything that she wanted to accomplish enabled her to gain the strength to actually do the work. She knew what she was able to do and did it. Her house has gained the reputation of being a "peaceful and comfortable home." It didn't become that way overnight though. She worked hard at a desire she had and refused to give up when the going got rough

So you don't know where to start? Optimism is a great beginning. One's viewpoint and mindset determines the end. If you start out with positive, uplifting words instead of doubts and fears, you will find how much easier it is to accomplish goals. Keeping a written record of everything you want to accomplish relieves the strain of having to remember everything. Don't overwork yourself, though. Precise priorities keeps strain and anxiety to a minimum--you know what you need to get done and you are able to get it done without worrying over minute details. You've already got the details worked out because they are written and precise.

Sometimes, in our minds, we get overwhelmed thinking about setting goals, but it's really so simple. It just takes a paper and pen, a little bit of brain storming, and will-power to finish what you've started. Positive thinking is a major part of reaching your destination. There are always bumps in the road, but it's how you react to the bumps that really matters--you can get discouraged or you can shrug your shoulders and say, "Oh, well!" Be precise and thorough when you write down everything you want to get done. You don't want to get started in a job and then forget what the purpose was because you failed to write it down.

So many times people focus on the outcome and get discouraged when the outcome doesn't come as quickly as they want it too. That's why it is so important to set several smaller goals in a sequence to get the final product desired; goals need to be set on one's performance.

Don't aim too low, but be realistic! Jennifer knew her strengths and weaknesses, knew what she was capable of accomplishing, and did it. Focus on reinforcing your strong points to help bring your weaknesses up. The higher you reach the more potential you acquire. Go for the gold!
